INSIDE THE GADGETS:

Explaining the Interface, Single channel digital flicker, and Multi channel digital flicker effects.

THE INTERFACE:

INTERFACE SIGNAL

The Interface can be connected from most of our lighting effects devices to any of our dimmers. The lighting fx units lamp connection can still be used and many dimmers "slaved" to the effect for nearly unlimited lighting fx power! Each dimmer has 2 parallel Interface connectors so that the signal can be daisy-chained from dimmer to dimmer. The connection is via 2 conductor mini phone (3.5mm) connectors. There is no special wiring required and cables can be made using standard 18 guage lamp cord as they are not subject to interference IN MOST ENVIRONMENTS.

HIGH RESOLUTION DIGITAL FLICKER:

SINGLE CHANNEL F/X UNITS

The single channel units make several level changes between the high and low dimmer settings. Flicker 2D 2, 6, 12, and 24K units make 5 light output changes; 2K Flicker Dimmer makes 4. Flickertorch and Flickerlantern have a high set dimmer only and make 3 level changes. The slow cooling characteristics of tungsten filament lamps tend to smooth these transitions. Bigger filaments (i.e. higher power lamps) = smoother transitions.

As the light follows the digital memory and "lands" on any of these levels for a moment very YOU'LL LIKE THIS GRAFIC! realistic fire "breathing" patterns are created. By setting the HIGH and LOW dimmer controls, what we call the "flicker window", to limit the lighting changes the lamps can be made darker (warmer, more fire colored) or brighter (cooler, less fire colored). In addition, the "flicker window" can be accurately minimized or maximized for anything from a "subtle" to a "blinky" effect depending on your needs. The 2K Flicker Dimmer, Flickertorch, and Flickerlantern have some limitations in effect control. These are as follows: The 2K Flicker Dimmer has high and low dimmers and a speed control but a single random fire effect. Flickertorch and Flickerlantern have low dimmer only with a single fire flicker effect preset at a speed designed to best emulate a real fire.

YOU'LL LIKE THIS GRAFIC! The Flicker 2D units (2, 6, 12, and 24,000 watt) have 16 selectable effects. The effects are selected by setting the 4 effects switches either on or off. This 4 by 4 "matrix" allows 16 possible combinations of the switches. They can be changed during operation if desired without causing any apparent glitches in the program.

INTERACTIVE DIGITAL FLICKER:

MULTI CHANNEL F/X UNITS

Shadowmaker and Flicker 3D have 3 channels that interact in such a way that one channel may be on while another is off. The lights in each channel follow the digital memory between the HIGH and LOW dimmer settings, what we call the "flicker window". By limiting these lighting changes the lamps can be made darker (warmer, more fire colored) or brighter (cooler, less fire colored). In addition, the "flicker window" can be accurately minimized or maximized for anything from a subtle to a "blinky" effect depending on your needs. By a combination of lighting angle and proper setting of the high and low dimmer controls very subtle (or dramatic) shadow motion is possible. Another type of effect would use color gels of different colors on each lamp to create color shifts. For instance, fire appears to move between orange, red, deep red, and yellow.

Several chase modes are also included in the programming. These are shown in the list below.
