THE OLD PICTURE GALLERY
Ahhhh... the little appreciated back streets of Hollywood. Hey, that's the ASC Clubhouse and The Magic Castle down there. Snapshot from the "Magic Gadgets Suite" at the old Hollywood Holiday Inn on Highland Avenue (just up the street from the Orange Motel). Gone... but not forgotten.
The company van waits for a load of "magic" on Studio Street in the heart of the old Columbia Pictures Studio lot at Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street, 1975.
Some early "Magic Boxes" waiting for load-out at the end of Studio Street in front of the R & D and manufacturing facility, 1976.
Some of the killer sound equipment showing off in one of the cavernous old sound stages, including the (then new) 800 watt tri-amped stage foldback floor wedge monitors, 1976. These monitors are still in use today in their essential basic form though they have evolved in many ways in the hands of the original pirate himself : John D. Hollywood.
